Why is the HPA important?
As the environmental threats facing a small lake ecosystem grow ever more dangerous in today’s world, the Horn Pond Association plays a vital world in preserving and protecting the lake that we all love. The HPA is vital for organizing regular water quality testing to ensure the safe use of the lake, the removal of invasive species that threaten the wildlife of the lake, and the protection of the lake’s quaint and clandestine feel. Through our collective efforts, we are able to organize community events and ensure the continued use of the lake for generations to come.
-
On our lake, we finance tests to ensure that the water quality remains at a healthy level for both the ecosystem and residential use alike. These tests are performed by AWWA.

The Lake Stewards of Maine offer ‘Plant Paddles’, during which participants paddle around to look at different plant species and learn about what it is dangerous and what is native. It is a very informative session that is beneficial to the lake and all residents and is free to anyone interested. The trips are lea by professional Laurie Callahan.
